Argentina’s largest two banks are now allowing their clients to buy, hold and sell digital assets, according to a report.

The largest bank in Argentina, Banco Masventas (BMV), and the second largest, Banco Galicia, are reportedly permitting their clients to buy, hold and sell cryptocurrencies through the Bitcoin Suisse trading platform and custody service.

BMV clients will need to open a BMV account with Bitcoin Suisse and have a minimum balance of $1 million Argentine pesos (about $15,000) to qualify.

The announcement comes after Argentina’s central bank, the Banco Central de la Republica Argentina (BCRA), issued a memo that cleared the way for banks to offer crypto services.

The memo said that banks could offer crypto custody and trading services to their clients as long as they complied with anti-money laundering (AML) and countering-the-financing-of-terrorism (CFT) regulations.
